Course details

This course aims to develop teachers' English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in the school environment. Participants will take away with them authentic strategies that they can apply in school.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Handle a range of work-related skills such as communicating effectively with school personnel and parents
• Read, write and respond to school related matters
• Read and summarize school announcements, instructions, circulars Intepret and complete work report form

What will  I learn?

This course is specially designed for teachers who need to interact with others effectively in English in their workplace.

• Effective Interpersonal Communication with supervisor, peers, parents and students
• Talk about different types of students
• Review and discuss students' behaviour and performance with other teachers or with their students' parents
• Effective Listening and Speaking Skills
• Reiterate messages communicated by Principal and HODs during meetings and in other announcements
• Give appropriate instructions to students
• Negotiate with and advise others using appropriate language and tone
• Resolve conflicts effectively with others in opposing situations.
• Effective Reading and Writing Skills Read and intepret what you need to do in the work review form
• Describe what you do as a teacher clearly and effectively in writing
• Describe how you achieve the Key Result Areas (KRA)
• Read and understand the teaching competencies expected of you
• Describe your training and development needs
• Highlight your involvement in forums, activities and projects on innovation and continuous improvement Methodology

Participants will participate in case studies, role play, pair work, and group work to take away with them ready-to-use materials for their workplace.
