Course details
This course meets the mandatory requirement which will take effect from 1 January 2010 affecting all shore based personnel handling dangerous goods and complies with MPA's circular No. 8 of 2009 on Amendment 34-08 to the IMDG Code. Please click here for more information.
Objective
Aim to provide with basic knowledge of the IMDG Code. Practical guidance on how to comply the provisions in the Code will also be provided.
At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:
- Understand the IMDG Code - what the code requires, how it is structured, where the topics are found
- Identify the nine hazard classes and three packing groups
- Mark and label a consignment of dangerous goods correctly
- Use packaging for dangerous goods correctly
- Stow and segregate the incompatible dangerous goods
- Complete and check dangerous goods transport document correctly

Target Participants
It is imperative for those involved in handling, packing, storage, shipping and transporting of dangerous goods e.g. ship owners, mariner, port/terminal operators, manufacturers, shippers, shipping agents, packers, freight forwarders, etc.
Certification
At the end of the training session, the participants are required to sit for a test. A certificate of Successful Completion will be issued to those participants who have attended 75% or more of the training and passed the test. Those who failed the test will be issued a Certificate of Attendance.

About Singapore Shipping Association
