INTRODUCTION
In many organizations, problem-solving and decision-making can be an ineffective, inefficient and even frustrating experience. In general, this workshop attempts to help senior participants to:
- focus on the issue not personal agenda or emotion;
- solve problems and make decisions more effectively and efficiently in a team-based context by speaking a common language and using a set of recommended tools;
- eradicate deep seeded problems and not just “fight fires” most of the time;
- analyze issues from both targeted as well as holistic perspectives so that complex issues can be resolved in an effective and efficient manner; and
- complement their technical or linear problem-solving skills such as 5-D, 7-D, Six Sigma, KT/DPI or Capelle’s EPED.
This course is conducted by Capelle Academy (CET).
OBJECTIVES
At the end of the program, participants should be able to:
- analyze complex issues in macro context
- apply systems thinking to identify root causes
- use systems thinking tools to develop possible solutions
- select most suitable solution
- develop implementation plan
- assess effectiveness and propose corrective actions
- document the process
METHODOLOGY
This workshop balances the need to challenge the senior participants to use new processes and at the same time build on their rich experience to solve complex problems or issues.

- Presentation of concepts including process steps
- Exercises using recommended templates and processes
- Group discussions and exercises
- Case studies (illustrations and exercises)
- Role plays
- Reflection for self-improvement
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This workshop is designed for those with responsibilities for the operation and performance of an organizational unit(s). They should typically have a number of years of working experience.
