Course details
The role of a Resident Engineer (RE) is to assist the Qualified Person in the supervision of building works to ensure that the buildings/structures are constructed in accordance with approved plans. It is thus important that Resident Engineer (RE) has the knowledge and experience in civil engineering concepts to carry out his duties effectively.
In order to provide the flexibility for the graduates of BEng degree in Environmental Engineering from NTU to join the built environment sector as REs, IES Academy with collaboration with NTU will be conducting the 3 bridging courses, namely Structural Design II, Civil Engineering Construction Technology and Geotechnical Engineering.
OBJECTIVES
This course aims to provide students with a general understanding of various construction methodologies, machineries, processes and technologies used for the implementation of construction projects. Students will be exposed to various types of civil engineering works, including case studies of building and civil engineering projects in Singapore and overseas.Related legislations and industrial practices such as safety and buildability issues are also discussed.
