Course details

We develop models as simplifications of reality intended to promote understanding. The easiest models to create are typically relationship models. While these are the easiest models to create they're really just a picture of a set of relationships which are actually dynamic and unfold over time. There is often a very valuable level of understanding which can be understood from a relationship model. There are times when what needs to be understood simply can not be addressed by a static model. When you ask questions about when, how much or how long and the risk associated with being wrong is substantial the static model is just not up to the task and it has been repeatedly proven that our capacity to infer these answers is just not up to the task. The only approach that has at least a chance of answering these questions is the development of and interaction with a dynamic simulation. This program provides a foundation for developing dynamic simulation models with Insight Maker, a FREE web based, multi-user environment.
