Course details
On completion of this course, participants will have a good understanding of the fundamentals in signalling and its importance in the field of material handling. Participants will learn how to use verbal and hand signals, identify characteristics and proper usage methods of signalling equipment and materials as well as acquire knowledge on standard safety practices when performing signalling.
Course Outline
Under the Factories Act for Operation of Crane Regulations (1998/2000), all signalmen are required to undergo signalman course approved by Ministry of Manpower.
Upon completion of this course, trainees will be able to understand fundamentals of signalling and its importance in the field of material handling.
Trainees will learn how to use verbal and hand signals, identify characteristics and proper usage methods of signalling equipment and materials as well as acquire knowledge on standard safety practices when performing signalling.
The course comprises of the following modules:
- Fundamentals of Lifting Operations
- Roles and Responsibilities of a Signalman
- Set-up and Restore Communication Equipment
- Perform a Safe Lifting Operation
- 3 Step Lifting and Lowering Method
- Respond to Lifting Accidents and Emergencies
- 12 Standard Hand Signals (Practical)
- 16 Standard Voice Signals (Practcial)
- Flag and Light Baton Signals (Marine Industry Only)
- Assessment
Target Audience
Important
All trainees are required to attend the practical lessons in appropriate footwear.
The Signalmen course is suitable for all personnel in the following industries — Building & Construction, Marine Engineering, Shipping and Logistics.
Requirements
- Above 18 years of age
- ESS Level 2 and above
- At least six months relevant industrial experience
How will I be assessed?
There will be practical and theory assessment
Will I recieve a certificate of completion?
Upon successful completion of the course and passing the examination, participants will be issued a Certificate of Achievement in Signalmen Course
