Course details
This course is designed to train learners in all aspects of technology in the security industry. The practical elements of this course provide learners with the skills to survey, cable and install security and CCTV equipment. They also acquire a detailed knowledge of general electronics and security procedures. Learners complete a two week work placement with a reputable security firm during the second term. Successful graduates of this course are eligible to apply for a licence as specified by the Private Security Authority of Ireland. Learners are prepared for employment in the Security Industry as specified by the Public Security Services Act 2004.

Learners achieve their Door Security and Guarding Skills licences on this course from the Private Security Authority (PSA)
There is a growing demand for employees in this industry. Successful graduates may apply for positions in companies installing and maintaining intruder alarms, access control systems and closed circuit televisions
This course requires learners to be Garda Vetted. Continued participation on this course and work placement is dependent on successful completion of this process. Learners may apply for Garda Vetting at Induction in September
Learners may progress to the Advanced QQI (FETAC) Level 6 Award in Security Operations (6M4980) or to the Advanced QQI (FETAC) Level 6 Award in Electronic Technology (CETXX
