Course details
This course is endorsed by ITE and catered to participants without the necessary skills in handling enquiries and feedback and are interested in joining the beauty industry as a receptionist.
What will I learn?
At the end of the training programme, the student will be able to perform and/or explain the following:
- Grooming, hygiene and professional conduct and ethics
- Operations of salon
- First aid
Certificate Conferring Body
Upon completion of the course, students will be awarded the NITEC in Beauty Therapy Module Certificate by Institute of Technical Education (ITE).
Entry Requirements
Local course participants must possess any one of the following entry requirements in order to be eligible for Nitec Examinations.
- Complete GCE ‘N’ level or are holding a Nitec certification from other courses.
- Entry Test by ITE (Test fees are paid to ITE). Applies to course participants that do not have the above qualifications.
Other than the mentioned pre-requisites, the students should also have the following:
- Students must be able to read and write in English or Chinese. Other cases will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
- Students should be of a minimum of 16 years of age to be eligible for the courses.
- For foreign students, relevant passes are required.
Graduation Requirement
Students are required to meet the following criteria in order to graduate and obtain their relevant certificates:
- Candidates must complete the module with at least 80% (90% for International students) in attendance.
- The pass mark of a module is 50% and is based on the aggregate score obtained from the practical and written tests conducted at the end of the module. Candidates are required to pass all critical criteria/skills in the skills standard.
Examination
At the end of the course, you can register to sit for Nitec Examination. Upon passing both the practical and theory examinations, you will receive the Nitec Certificate in Beauty Therapy by ITE.
There are only 2 series of Nitec examinations – June and December. Students can only sit for June or December examination regardless of their course completion date (For example, students that complete their course in March, will have to wait till June to sit for their examinations).
International students, upon completion of their course and expiration of their student pass, will have to return to their home country and make arrangement to come to Singapore for their scheduled examination.
