Course details
The one-day Bus course is designed to take the principles learnt in the Light Vehicle Defensive Driving course and promote the goal of crash-free driving to bus drivers. It also incorporates relevant bus-specific components to develop the required and expected higher level of driving skills. This course has more of a "hands-on" approach: drivers learn by practical demonstration, explanation and practice sessions and then undergo a comprehensive on-road driving assessment to ensure that they have the appropriate skills to reduce the risk exposure.
The aim of this course is to provide the driver with the skills, attitude and knowledge to:
- Anticipate potential road crash situations
- Respond to emergency driving situations as they occur
- Develop effective vehicle control and observation skills
- Provide passenger safety and comfort
- Demonstrate low risk driving techniques when driving a bus
Objectives
To enhance the existing skills of a driver to operate a bus in a low-risk, economical manner, and focus on passenger comfort.
Outcomes

At the end of this course the participant will be able to:
- Conduct a pre-trip vehicle inspection
