The term “risk-based testing” has been used within the IT industry. Risk-based testing is “an approach to testing to reduce the level of product risks and inform stakeholders of their status, starting in the initial stages of a project. It involves the identification of product risks and the use of risk levels to guide the test process.

The problem, however, is many people have little understanding of how to implement the process of risk-based testing to match the ideal of the definition.

This workshop introduces people to the definition of risk-based testing in terms of the relationship between risk, the management of risk and testing.

• Risk Level, risk appetite and risk tolerance
• Residual risk
• Risk-based testing
• The process steps involved in risk management in IT
• The definitions of risk scope and risk monitoring in IT projects
• The SQS risk-based testing methodology.
