Course details

Update: I was featured on FOX Business about my reskin of this game and using the word "candy", which Candy Crush felt infringed on their trademark. Here is the Youtube video.

In this course, I teach you how to reskin a popular and successful slot machine app and upload it to the App store.

No experience with how to use Xcode. I teach you step-by-step through videos how to do it.

What is reskinning?

Reskinning is buying an existing app and changing the graphics and theme to make it your own. It'll look and feel like a different app, but the gameplay will be the same.

Why would I want to reskin a game instead of making an original game?

First of all, creating a game from scratch is expensive if you are hiring someone else. More expensive than a non-game app. You wouldn't want to spend thousands of dollars on a game and then have no one download it.

What if you could buy a game that has proven itself already? Users have downloaded it and like the gameplay. That would be a much better place to start. The cost will be much lower.

Okay, I want to reskin games, what I need?

You buy a license from the owner of the game to create your own games. I have bought licenses from $99 up to $750.

You are given the original source code. So you hire a designer to change the graphics, then hire a programmer or learn how to change everything in Xcode, and release it.

Won’t there be many versions of the same app?

Yes there will be, so you have to find the right audience you want to target. For this slot machine game, I’ve seen all different themes. Each targets a different audience. Each one has the potential to do well.

The App store is big enough and has enough users for everyone.

Isn't making different versions of the same game spamming the App store?

I don't believe it does at all. By reskinning, you're not just putting out apps that trick users. You're entertaining them. If they like it, they'll keep playing it. If they don't, then they'll just delete it.

In my mind, there are many worse offenders making apps that trick people and making them so angry they leave one star reviews.

I don't have any idea how to use Xcode, but want to learn how to reskin. Is this course for me?

Yes!

When I started reskinning games, I had no idea how to do it, but I wanted to learn myself to save money and time. It took me a long time to get comfortable, but now I've been hired by others to help reskin their games.

I take you step-by-step with videos to show you exactly what you need to do.

Will this course teach me about programming?

No.

I am not a programmer. I can’t change features of a game. That’s way beyond my level.

I just know how to do everything that is needed to reskin this game, and upload it to the app store.

What are other benefits of doing this myself?

You will save money! If you are reskinning this game two times, you will need to pay a programmer twice.

The work needed to reskin this game from beginning to end is so easy for any experience programmer. They will charge you a lot for easy work.

Save your money and learn it yourself!

I believe that when you’re starting your app business, do as much as you can.

Finally you have more control. By taking the new graphics, I can get change it in Xcode and have it ready to be reviewed by Apple. I don't have to wait for a programmer. I don’t have to post an ad on Elance or Odesk, and find a reliable programmer.

Okay I’m ready to get started! What do I need to do next?

First of all, you need a license to reskin this slot machine game. If you don't have it yet, you can go here and buy a license. The license for this game is $750.

By buying it, you are allowed to reskin this game as many times as you want.

(Note: This course does not include a copy of the game. I don't want you buying this course thinking it comes with the source code. You will need to buy that separately.)

Then join this course, and I'll teach you how to use Xcode, iTunes Connect, and set up all ad networks.

You'll also need:

  • Mac computer. Sorry no PC since it doesn't run Xcode.
  • Latest version of Xcode
  • iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to test the app
  • Willing to learn and a passion to do apps.

I look forward to having you in the course!
