Course details
This course also equips students with a practical understanding and workshop experience of domestic Sustainable Construction practices, including Passive House methods. This will prepare students for the forthcoming changes to the construction industry required to meet the EU Nearly-Zero Energy directive which will affect all new public buildings by 2018 and all new buildings by 2020. Students will get practical certification in thermal insulation installation as well as gaining skills in sustainable design and layout, selection and use of materials, heating and ventilation systems, energy management and health and safety.

Renewable Energy Systems, Building Construction, Building Services, Computer Aided Design 2D, Architectural Drawing, Communications, Work Experience, Mathematics (optional) and Thermal Insulation Installation.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Renewable Energy Practices 1
Interview: Knowledge and interest in the areas of Renewable Energy, Sustainabiltity and Construction would be an advantage. Evidence of drawing or sketching ability would be useful for candidates applying for this course, but this is not a requirement.
Renewable Energy Practices 2
Candidates with suitable experience will be considered for advanced entry to Level 6 (second year) of this course. Evidence should be provided of prior work or study in the building industry, renewable energy industry or Computer-Aided-Design.
