Learners will develop the knowledge, skills and qualifications to work as healthcare assistants in various settings. Graduates of this course can work as part of a care team assisting nurses in hospitals and in Nursing homes. Graduates can also help with an individual’s personal care as home help.

Entry Requirements
- No CAO points required.
- An English language test may be required for international students from countries where English is not a first language.
- For mature candidates recognition of prior learning and experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
- Leaving Certificate (established), Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA), or equivalent.
- Places will be allocated on the basis of an interview.
- This course is designed to benefit mature learners with life and work experience.
Certification
- QQI Certificate in Health Care Support, Level 5 – 5M4339.
- QQI Occupational First Aid Certificate, Level 5 – 5N1207.
Work Experience
Work experience is an integral part of this course. Two days per week plus block release of two weeks duration. The dates will be specified by the college. Each student is responsible for securing their own work placement.
