Western Management Centre’s accredited QQI Public Relations course is aimed at participants with an interest in PR, those who are working in the area but want to broaden their knowledge, or self-employed individuals who want to learn PR techniques to promote their own businesses in a cost effective way.
The highly interactive course will cover all the essential elements of PR planning including; media relations, event management, sponsorship, social media and crisis PR and is designed to give participants the knowledge and skills necessary to design and execute their own PR campaigns.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements however learners should preferably have a good working knowledge of English, have a leaving certificate or equivalent qualification and / or relevant life and work experiences.

- Understand the importance of PR in today’s work place
- Understand how a PR department works
- Understand how a PR consultancy works
- Become familiar with specific PR terms and practices and concepts
- Acquire basic organisational and communications skills for PR practice
- Understand the key criteria for developing and managing a public relations campaign/plan
- Be able to create appropriate PR materials
- Appreciate the difference between PR and marketing and other promotional and communication channels.
