Course details
Individuals working on research projects need to complete many tasks to ensure the overall success of the project. Often research projects are like running a small business, and being prepared for these challenges can be overwhelming. In this program participants will be exposed to key aspects of research fundamentals and practices while building a portfolio for future job placement.
The Research Assistant Certificate Program is comprised of six courses which are taught in a collaborative and integrated format to develop teamwork among participants. These courses are:
- Fundamentals of Research
- Communications for Research Assistants
- Math of Data Management
- Qualitative Research
- Quantitative Research
- Professional Research Practice
Entry requirements
- Must possess a university degree or college diploma from a recognized institution
- Must meet a minumum English Language skills level assessment of IELTS 5.5
Students successfully completing the course requirements will be given the option to pursue a post-diploma.*
*In order to obtain a post – diploma for this program, students must complete a 350-hour work placement at an approved research facility, where they will further develop their research skills. Students opting to undertake this component are responsible for securing their work placement, and will be provided with support to find suitable opportunities to complete the research hours for completion of the diploma program. The work placement will take place under the supervision and guidance of a qualified scientist or investigator, along with continued support and guidance from a program mentor.
