Course details
This course is framed to provide sufficient knowledge on land degradation and rehabilitation within desert ecosystems. Assessment and monitoring, determining the nature and causes of land degradation and selection of appropriate strategies to control desertification and rehabilitation scheme will be the main core of the course. The course will include various lectures, discussions, assignments, field trips and detailed laboratory analysis.
Objectives
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Gain knowledge of various mechanisms affecting land degradation
- Evaluate land degradation and combating desertification
- Determine the impact of land degradation on natural biodiversity and terrestrial environment
Participants
Diploma/B.Sc degree or equivalent in biology, agriculture, geology, geography, and chemistry environmental engineering
Pre-requisites
Participant should have academic degree or equivalent, and knowledge of English and Arabic to understand the lectures and discussions.
