Course details
If you have not undertaken formal study for sometime and are concerned regarding your academic study and writing skills, you are strongly advised to undertake the access module (Academic Writing and Learning Skills Module - available through the Centre for Lifelong Learning) prior to attempting any stand alone module.
Applicants for Stand Alone Modules must be:
- A Registered Nurse on the Live Register held by An Bord Altranais.
- Working in a clinical area where they are able to develop skills relevant to their chosen module
or
- Working in the area of Health service/delivery in another capacity such as another health care professional/administrator/ manager or equivalent.
- This module may also be relevant to non-clinical health services managers across acute and primary care areas.
- Credits from stand alone modules can be accrued towards the award of Post Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences (Nursing Studies/Professional Studies)
- Many of our stand-alone modules are delivered through blended learning/e-learning allowing you the option of studying at your own pace in your own home
Programme Overview
The aim of this module is provide the student with the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills required to promote the physical well being of people with an intellectual disability. The module focuses on supporting the physical health needs of adults within the context of the Irish healthcare system using appropriate and evidence based approaches.
