The ILM Unit Certificate in Project Management (PM) aims to develop participants’ knowledge and understanding of managing projects as required by a practising or potential first line manager or facilities manager.
It covers basic project design principles and simple tools for financial appraisal of projects. It also addresses the need for good project management planning techniques linked to clear project objectives and targets. It builds on the system of milestones to monitor performance and review plans and for project evaluation and monitoring.
The ability to manage projects is an essential skill which major employers expect their senior and middle managers to possess. As a guide to the importance of the subject, Project Management now forms part of many MSc and postgraduate programmes.
