This course is designed for stu­dents wish­ing to study Arts at Third Level. It intro­duces stu­dents to the meth­ods of study, writ­ing and research skills nec­es­sary for suc­cess­ful par­tic­i­pa­tion at Third Level and allows stu­dents to apply to these courses through a route other than directly from Leav­ing Certificate.

Pro­gres­sion and Career Options:

This course allows stu­dents apply for a range of third level Arts courses through the QQI entry sys­tem. This sys­tem is an alter­na­tive entry sys­tem to the Leav­ing Cer­tifi­cate and is a viable alter­na­tive for stu­dents who have not achieved suf­fi­cient points directly from Leav­ing Cer­tifi­cate or for stu­dents (school leavers or mature stu­dents) who wish to com­plete a foun­da­tion year before pro­gress­ing to third level. The course is a recog­nised pro­gres­sion route to Arts in NUI Maynooth, UCD, UCG andUCC as well as Human­i­ties courses in Insti­tutes of Tech­nol­ogy nation­wide.
