Course details
This full-time programme of English and Academic study is designed to meet the needs of students who wish to pursue a Masters programme of study in an Irish university. The course consists of three core components.
Course Aims
- The University Pre-Masters Programme will:
- Prepare students for the linguistic and academic demands of postgraduate level study.
- Enable you to develop skills to address and resolve academic problems critically and reflectively.
- Enable you to develop the academic English language skills essential for success at masters level.
- Help you develop the necessary cultural and study skills for effective learning through the medium of English.

- EAP – English for Academic Purposes
- IELTS Preparation
- Master Programme Preparation
Who is this course for?
- Students who have completed their primary degree and wish to continue in their chosen field at postgraduate level in an English-speaking university.
- Students who need to improve their IELTS score and level of academic English in order to gain entry to a Master's programme.
- Students who want to be fully prepared to meet the rigorous demands of fourth level study in English; including participating in seminars and tutorials, undertaking research, writing academic papers and giving presentations.

CEC is an authorised Cambridge ESOL, IELTS, BULATS, TOEIC and Trinity College London examination centre in Cork.
