Course details

The aim of the Dyspraxia Awareness distance learning course is to provide the student with an understanding of dyspraxia and the specific difficulties associated with this condition. Dyspraxia is a difficulty with thinking out, planning and carrying out sensory and/or motor tasks. Children with dyspraxia face many challenges each day in carrying out activities that many take for granted. Such difficulties can have an effect on the child's ability in school and also on their overall self esteem.

Entry Requirements

  • Entry to this course is by direct application to the college. There are no previous academic requirements.

Course Content Modules

  • What is dyspraxia
  • Signs that a child may have dyspraxia
  • How and when dyspraxia is diagnosed
  • Effects of dyspraxia on the child/adolescent
  • Role of a multidisciplinary team
  • Effective strategies to assist a child with dyspraxia

Assessment Criteria

  • One short case study based assignment will be required to successfully complete this course.
