Course details

This course will give you the opportunity to develop expertise in the fast-paced area of web technologies. It is practical and aims to provide an understanding of how to create cutting-edge web applications to be deployed distributively across the latest hosting platforms, including public/hybrid clouds, peer-to-peer networks, clusters, and multi-tenancy servers.

Graduates will be able to:

  • Use the latest Clientside Applications frameworks
  • Create and deploy commercial web applications
  • Build scalable web applications and analyse their performance using the latest tools
  • Perform usability testing on a web application
  • Design and deploy wire framing, eye tracking and web analytics for websites
  • Generate a suitable business case to justify a web-based development

Who is the course for?

The course should appeal to skilled computing graduates and those with an interest in applying web technologies to build new products. This course is for experienced ICT professionals and college graduates from cognate disciplines at level 8 who have some experience with programming languages.

Award and Progression

The Postgraduate Diploma in Web Technologies is awarded by QQI at level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications.

Academic Entry Requirements

  • A level 8 degree (2.2 award) or its equivalent in a computing or a cognate discipline. The college operates a Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) scheme - meaning applicants who do not meet the normal academic entry requirements, may be considered based on relevant work or other experience. Non English speaking applicants must demonstrate fluency in the English language as demonstrated by IELTS academic score of at least 6.0 or equivalent.

Course Assessment

  • The course will be assessed with a blend of project work and exams. This varies between modules. Please note that in some instances exams may take place in the daytime.
