The Postgraduate Diploma in International Business offers an opportunity to students who are progressing directly from an undergraduate degree or who perhaps are at an early stage in their career development, to embark on a programme of study which will bring them to Postgraduate level and then give them the option of a further study path and prgression onto the MSc award. This Postgraduate Diploma in International Business prepares graduates for the world of international business by providing an educational experience which is strongly vocational, academically rigorous and intellectually challenging - a key stepping stone to a career in international business management. The range of modules in this business masters are delivered specialising in various aspects of international business  including financial management, international strategy, international marketing management, HR management, corporate responsibility, entrepreneurship and leadership.The Postgraduate Diploma requires completion of the five Postgraduate Certificate modules in addition to the following six modules which focus on advancing a deep critical understanding of a range of specialist business disciplines in students.

Our approach to teaching, learning and assessment

Every class is an opportunity to explore, to learn and to question. We believe in an interactive teaching style that encourages students to make significant contributions and presentations in class. This promotes the exchange of ideas as well as building confidence. International case studies form the basis of group discussions in tutorials and individual/group assignments. Bearing in mind the ongoing dynamic nature of the international business environment, we introduce and analyse the latest research and industry developments. This information is particularly useful for group assignments, presentations and independent research projects. Assessment is based on ongoing coursework and on final examination performance. The Research Dissertation for the MSc is assessed on the content, approach and presentation, as well as the student’s ability to meet the required deadlines and specifications. For the MBA, you will be assessed on your managerial ability and the application of your skills and knowledge in the workplace, as demonstrated by submission of an MBA dissertation, or by the submission of two Management Reports following the MSc dissertation. All Griffith students who graduate with an MBA degree will have demonstrated their management experience through the completion of individual reports of between 30 and 40 management competencies. This Management Competency Report is a practical reflection of their managerial achievements.

What is the teaching schedule?

Full-time students normally attend classes five days a week, Monday- Friday, normally between 9am and 6pm. The part-time programme is a blend of evening based teaching, taking place three evenings per week between Mondays and Thursdays, and a small number of block weekend based teaching sessions taking place on Saturdays and Sundays. Timetables are available on programme commencement. There are two semesters per year – September to December and February to May. Each semester consists of a 12 week teaching period and a one week mid-semester assignment preparation period. Examinations are held in January and May. Completion of MSc and MBA dissertations will take place throughout the year.
