Course details

postgraduate diploma is designed to prepare education professionals for managerial roles within the education sector. The programme includes study of the education policy environment, the legal and social context, the principles of leadership in education, and the culture of schools. The course provides participants with an opportunity to develop their insights into leadership in education, and to undertake a particular practical project related to their own work. A wide variety of methodologies – lectures, seminars and workshops are used throughout with a selection of key guest speakers from an international and national context presenting in the areas of law, diversity, special educational needs, leadership development and other relevant themes.

The course is designed particularly for leaders in Irish primary and second level schools, and is for many teachers an important step in the path towards promotion to management positions.

The course is designed to fit the schedule of teachers. Numbers admitted to this course are limited so as to allow for interactive engagement by participants.

Entry Requirements

This course is aimed at professionals working within the education sector who are preparing to work in, or already hold, management positions. Applicants are required to have a degree approved by the Senate of the University and be qualified teachers with appropriate work experience.
