Portfolio Preparation in Art, Craft & Design

Course details

This is a foundation course in Art and Design. There is a strong emphasis on art practice and portfolio preparation. Students work in a range of media focusing on the completion of work to the standard required for entry to Art and Design courses in Third-Level colleges in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the U.K.

Features of the Course

• Focus on developing a balanced portfolio of work. Students are guided through production content and layout of a portfolio for art college
• Tuition in the development of skills in painting, drawing, crafts, cultural studies
• Specialist workshop areas for ceramics, sculpture/mixed materials and photography

Entry

• Students are requested to bring the following to the interview:
• Two samples of drawings of Natural Objects (drawn from real objects not photographs)
• Two samples of drawings of Man-made Objects (drawn from real objects not photographs)
• One sample of Figurative Drawing from life
