Course details

Our Pluto Programme has been designed to facilitate the learner in performing a focused self assessment, in order to gather information and make informed judgements about work, training and educational opportunities. Participants will gain practice in the range of skills necessary to secure employment and explore the importance of career planning and focused job seeking.

This job seeking and support programme is free to the long or short term unemployed. It is aimed at those who require additional assistance in making that next step in their career and employment status.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion of this course learners will:

• Compile a personal profile by exploring interests, vocational skills and transferable skills, talents, personal qualities and characteristics, values and achievements.
• Match your personal profile to possible job applications.
• Create a CV and cover letter targeted towards a chosen industry/job.
• Explore a variety of appropriate career options and job types to include job availability, job requirements and trends in the sector.
• Compile a personal job seeking tool kit to include general cover letter, CV, portfolio of references, recommendation, qualifications and other documentation to support future job applications.
• Understand where to find educational opportunities and further training locally and gather information on entry and progression levels and opportunities.
• Undertake a mock interview and associated feedback for a selected position.
