The PhD in Social Psychological Science and cognitive science is a structured PhD programme offered together with the Department of Psychology at the University of Limerick (UL). This structured PhD will combine expertise in social psycholgoy, cognitive psychology, and cognitive neuroscience.
Students will receive a high quality education on the graduate level on all areas of their study: research methods, professional and transferable skills, and tipic content: social psychology, cognitve psychology, and neuroscience. Specifically, the programme will educate PhD students in seeking funding, establishing national and international networks, mentoring skills, conducting ethical and innovative research that addresses basic research questions and real world problems. Graduates should thus be qualified for potential academic careers, careers in research outside of academia, and careers at workplaces where topic knowledge and the learned transferable skills are relevant.
Entry requirements
Prospective students are expected to have no less than a first-class honours degree in psychology or a discipline related to experimental psychology (e.g. cognitive science, computer science, engineering, physiology). Study to Masters Level, which includes a research-based project is highly desirable.
