Course details

This course is suited to learners who have already achieved the Level 6 Certificate (or equivalent) in Sports, Recreation and Exercise Studies, ITEC Certificates in Gym Instruction, Exercise to Music and Sports Massage Therapy (or equivalent). It is designed to equip learners with the necessary knowledge and skills to work as a Personal Trainer and to enhance their sports massage skills with advanced sports massage specialised techniques. Learners will also be taught how to safely manage the injured player, to determine the need for referral, the importance of correct nutrition in sport and to design progressive rehabilitation programmes to return the injured player to full fitness.

Learners who successfully complete a QQI Level 5 Certificate may be able to use their results to progress to related Level 7 and Level 8 Degree Programmes in IoT’s and Universities in Ireland and the UK. Third level progression opportunities for QQI learners are continually being developed and enhanced.

Entry Requirements

• ITEC Certificates in Gym Instruction or equivalent
• ITEC Certificate in Exercise to Music or equivalent
• ITEC Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy or equivalent
• Mature learners with relevant experience
• Interview
