Course details

This programme is designed to equip the learner with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and deliver an effective training programme in people handling in a health/social care contexts.

There is a large practical element to the course and it is designed to ensure that students will gain the confidence and instructional skills to enable them to deliver effective people handling training to others.

Programme Aim:

At the end of the course the learner will be able to:

• Explain the protocols and procedures that impact on people handling
• Carry out people handing risk assessment using L.I.T.E – Load, Individual, Task, Environment
• Describe and explain the different types of controls available to avoid and reduce the risks associated with people handling
• Provide constructive feedback for learners on the performance
• Set SMART objectives for a People handling course.
• Develop lesson plans for a People Handling Course
• Deliver a people handling course effectively

Entry Requirement

Leaving cert or equivalent qualification. Relevant life/work experience also considered
