PEARSON BTEC LEVEL 7 DIPLOMA IN STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP (QCF)

Course details

The course is designed to meet the following aims:

- To provide maximum flexibility with a range of different-sized Level 7 programmes;

- To give the opportunity to certificate smaller blocks of learning designed to motivate learns and encourage widening participation in education and training;

- To offer courses that relate to the particular training and employment patterns in a sector;

- To offer courses that may offer preparation for specific jobs when in employment;

- To offer the opportunity to use a range of delivery methods;

- To provide teachers with the opportunity to use a range of delivery methods;

- To offer opportunities for learners to develop skills that support career and professional development;

- To offer underpinning knowledge, skills and understanding linked, where appropriate, to named NVQs;

- To offer programmes that can enable progression either to higher levels of study or to other courses at the same level of study.

- To allow progress into or within employment and/or continue their studies in vocational areas

Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:

1. Utilize techniques and technology to address business problems and enable effective decision making;

2. Develop practical skills, alongside knowledge and understanding of business;

3. Understand the nature and issues of strategic management and leadership;

4. Understand the links between strategic management, leadership and organisational direction;

5. develop the skills to apply their understanding of strategic management;

6. use the methods and techniques to assess the development of their own skills to support the achievement of strategic direction;

7. use the understanding and skills to support active engagement in the process of strategic change management;

8. Demonstrate problem-solving skills;

9. Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as effectively as a member of a team;

Entry Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree equivalent to QCF Level 6. Work experience is desirable.
The Pearson BTEC Level 7 Professional qualifications in Strategic Management and Leadership are accredited on the QCF for learners aged 19 and above.
Foreign students with qualifications equivalent to the above may be admitted on the condition that they are proficient with English. Proficiency will be determined by achieving IELTS 6.0 or equivalent AND passing Beacon's English Proficiency Test for Level 7 Professional Qualifications
Certification
To be awarded the To be awarded the Pearson BTEC Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership, the student must meet the criteria below:
Student must achieve 60 credits (where at least 55 credits must be at Level 7 or above). There are 3 mandatory units (totalling 25 credits); and a minimum of 35 credits from the list of optional units

Lectures/Tutorials
The course is mainly conducted in the classroom via face-to-face learning which encourages student-teacher interaction. Students are encouraged to attend field trips and bazaars organised by the school to encourage experiential learning.
Assessment
This course is assessed by outcome-based coursework which involves doing a report, presentation or project work.
