Course details
Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:
1. Utilize techniques and technology to address business problems and enable effective decision making;
2. Understand business strategies and decision making in business;
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the legal and financial aspects in business contracts;
4. Understand the nature and issues of business environment, organisations and behaviours;
5. Explain the functions, processes and information needs of organisations;
6. Understand personnel function of management and employment relationship within the organization;
7. Demonstrate problem-solving skills;
8. Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as effectively as a member of a team.
Entry Requirements
The entry profile of qualifications and/or experience held by an applicant should show an ability to progress to a Pearson BTEC Level 4 qualification.
For learners who have recently been in education, the profile is likely to include one of following:
- Diploma
- Chinese Senior Secondary Year 3
- SMU 3
- GCE 'A' Levels 2 passes
- ITE Higher NITEC 2.5
- STPM 2 passes
- Vietnam Grade 12
- Any other equivalent qualification
Applicants with foreign qualifications equivalent to the above may be admitted.
All applicants should possess
1. a GCE 'O' Level pass in Chinese Language OR
2. equivalently a pass in Chinese Language at Junior High School Level OR
3. a PASS in Chinese Proficiency Assessment Test determined by the college.
Those who fail the Chinese Proficiency Assessment Test will be required to successfully complete an appropriate Chinese Language course conducted by the College.
The Pearson BTEC Higher National qualifications are accredited on the QCF for learners aged 18 and above.
More mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience of paid and/or unpaid employment and/or achievement of a range of professional qualifications in their work sector.
Certification
Candidates who successfully complete all 8 units of this programme will be given the internationally recognised Pearson BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma in Business (Chinese) in Singapore, awarded by Pearson International (UK).
Lectures/Tutorials
The course is mainly conducted in the classroom via face-to-face learning which encourages student-teacher interaction. Students are encouraged to attend field trips and bazaars organised by the school to encourage experiential learning.
Assessment
This course is assessed by outcome-based coursework which involves doing a report, presentation or project work.
