Course details

To provide learners with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies necessary to operate and maintain accurate payroll records using manual and computerised systems, for an organisation and to understand and be capable of operating at least one payroll software programme correctly

Specific Entry/Access and Exemptions Requirements

Participants applying for this award should hold a level 4 and/or have relevant life and work experience. Applicants will have the opportunity to advise of any special learning requirements on application/registration

• FETAC Level 5 in Communication

Assessment

• 60% Assignments and 40% Examination

Programme Content

• Understand and explain key terminologies associated with personal taxation in preparing and maintaining payroll records
• Process payroll using a manual and computerised system
• Understand various taxation systems including credits, cut offs, emergency and temporary tax
• Be able to extract information required to prepare all end or period and year end returns tax forms and other documentation required for revenue commissioners
• Print reports and back up computerised data
• Understand alternative assessment methods to calculate annual tax for married couples
