Course details

Are you an individual who has an interest in welding? Have you established yourself with a manual arc welder and want to try other welding processes? M.I.G and Oxy Acetylene welding are widely used welding processes. Both have benefits over the Manual Arc Welding process.

This course is designed to introduce candidates to Metal Inert Gas Shielded Welding (MIG) and Oxy Acetylene welding. This course offers a foundation to individual who wish to carry out M.I.G and Gas Welding.

What are M.I.G Welding and Oxy Acetylene welding?

Metal Inert Gas Shielded Welding (MIG) is a method of welding in which the filler metal wire supplies the electric current to maintain the arc, which is shielded from the access of air by an inert gas, usually argon. It is a semi-automated process and achieves a much high output than a manual arc welding process.

Oxy Acetylene welding is a form of Gas welding. The combustion of oxygen and acetylene by means of a welding torch produces a temperature of about 32500?C. This achieves the conditions for welding. It is widely used in the plumbing industry and auto industry.

Course outline
