    This course aims to provide people currently working in or wishing to enter the manufacturing industry with the skills and knowledge required to perform their jobs effectively.

    This course is developed to enable an individual to acquire the skills and knowledge in using measuring devices in manufacturing at work. It is a systematic approach that workers can use to make incremental and breakthrough improvements in processes that produce products and services for customers.

    This course is specially developed by Singapore Workforce Development Agency to facilitate approved organisations under the WSQ scheme in training and preparing their staff to achieve the Statement of Attainment (SOA) for the competency unit “Operate Basic Measuring Devices.”

    COURSE OBJECTIVES

    At the end of the training programme, the participant will be able to:

    1. Prepare for work activities
    2. Select appropriate measurement procedures
    3. Perform required measurements
    4. Demonstrate basic handling and storage of measuring devices

    COURSE OUTLINE

    1. Prepare for work activities

    • Organisational procedures related to Workplace Safety & Health (WSH)
    • Types and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
    • Types of measuring devices and their usage

    2. Select appropriate measurement procedures

    • Select appropriate measuring device for allocated tasks
    • Determine dimensions and tolerances that require measurement and recording

    3. Perform required measurements

    • Perform measurements using appropriate measuring device
    • Report any deviation in measurements.

    4. Demonstrate basic handling and storage of measuring devices

    • Basic measurement system
    • Organisational procedures relating to handling, care and storage of measuring devices
    • Store measuring device according to organisational procedures
