SCAFFOLD ERECTOR COURSE OUTLINESection I: Introduction to Health & Safety
The course begins with an introduction to health and safety, emphasizing on the importance of looking after oneself and fellow colleagues by following Health and Safety guidelines, aiming at instigating a change in the attitude of the individual, which in turn starts the development towards a positive Health & Safety culture.
Section II: Basic terminologies in Health and Safety
The basic Health & Safety terminologies used in day to day activity are elaborated so that the staff develops a correct perception of what they are dealing with on site and which proves very helpful when progressing through the course.
Section III: Introduction to Scaffolding
This section introduces the participants to what is Scaffolding and different types of Scaffolding System available in the market and how to identify them.
Section IV: Introductory Video
The participants are introduced to the overall concept of Scaffolding Safety in this brief and interesting Video.
Section V: Hazards Associated with Scaffolds
All Hazards associated with Scaffolding are covered in detail and participants are taught how to identify hazards.
Section VI: Scaffold Components & Tools
At the end of this section the delegates will be able to identify different scaffold components and the tools used for scaffold erection and dismantling.
Section VII: Simple Procedure
A detailed and simple procedure to erect a scaffold, covering all the aspects of safety. The following topics are covered:
1. Material selection and planning
2. Inspecting and securing the ground
3. Step by step erection of the scaffold
Section VIII: Loading
A brief overview of the classification of Scaffolds based on the loading capacity.
Section IX: Ladder Safety
Safe use of Ladders in scaffolding.
Section X: Raising and Lowering of Materials
This section gives a brief as to how materials should be raised and lowered safely.
Section XI: Securing the scaffold
This section shows the different methods used to tie and secure the scaffold and preventing it from up thrust and collapse.
Section XII: PPE
PPE is an important part of all activities and this section emphasizes the use of PPE and its advantages with more emphasis on the limitations and correct use of the full body harness.
Section XIII: Practical Session
The practical session will include the complete erection and dismantling of a small scaffold structure to give the participants hands on experience in safe scaffold erection and dismantling. Updated on 08 March, 2018
