The aim of the Nutritional Care Study day is to provide Health Care Professionals with an overview of the competency requirements in managing the Nutritional needs of the older person
The following will be covered on the day:
- Defining Nutritional Care, Malnutrition
- Factors that contribute to an older persons altered nutritional status
- Nutritional Assessment
- Assessment, Planning, Implementing and Evaluating the care of an older person requiring nutritional support
- Multidisciplinary team approach
- Pharmacology and the Nutritional Status of the Older Adult
- Ethical considerations in providing Nutritional Support for the Older Adult
- National and Local Publications Protocols & Guidelines on Nutritional Care in the Older Adult– a review of the evidence
- Assessment – critical review of case studies
This course is aimed at qualified nursing staff and has Category 1 Approval, CEU’s Continuing Education Units from An Bord Altranais.
