    Course details

    If you already hold a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Nursing Studies, top it up to a full honours degree with this online course, and fit study easily around your career, personal or family commitments.

    There is also an access route at Level 5 Diploma level if you do not meet the academic entry requirements. Depending on your qualifications, you will need to successfully complete one or both of the Counselling Skills and Counselling in Context modules for entry onto the BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies (top up) degree programme.

    Entry Requirements

    • a Diploma or an Advanced Diploma in Nursing Studies (any nursing discipline)
    • to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or international equivalent
    • to be working in a relevant Nursing arena e.g. community, Acute sectors, public or private health and social care settings.

    Documents to suppoprt your application

    You'll need to provide full details of your qualifications, written references and evidence of regulatory body membership (e.g. NMC PIN number).

    English Language Qualification

    You'll also normally require one of the following English language qualifications:

    • GCE O level English Language C
    • GCSE English C

    If English is not your first language you will need one of the following English language qualifications.

    • IELTS 7.0
    • TOEFL: 600 (paper based), 250 (computer based) or 100 (internet based)
    • Pearson Test of Academic English: 51
    • Cambridge Advanced Certificate: Pass
    • London Tests of English: we accept level 4 for undergraduate courses
    • International GCE O Level English Language: Grade C
    • International GCSE English/English as a Second Language: Grade C

    We may accept other equivalent English Language qualifications with supporting evidence so please provide full details with your application.

    Pre Diploma/Advanced Diploma qualifications

    You can apply if you qualified pre-diploma or if your International qualification (diploma or degree) in Nursing does not equate to that of UK entry requirements to the programme:

    • If you are in current nursing practice and need additional credits at level 5.
    • If you are registered with your professional nursing body (National or International) e.g. Nursing & Midwifery Council (UK) and need additional credits at level 5.

    There is an access route at Level 5 Diploma level and depending on your qualifications, you will need to successfully complete one or both the Counselling Skills and Counselling in Context modules for entry onto the BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies (top up) degree programme.

    If you qualified pre Diploma or Advanced Diploma then you may be able to apply for credits through prior learning - Accredited Prior Learning (APL) or Accredited Prior Experiential learning (APEL) based on your previous academic and clinic experience. Contact us for further information.
