Course details

This course prepares students for a career in Computer Networking, Systems Maintenance and Web Design. Students will acquire skills such as Network Administration, Web Design and computer programming. Students will implement the latest strategies to develop websites, evaluate design tools and explore future technology standards.

Entry Requirements

  • Leaving Certificate (5 passes)
  • Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent
  • Applicants of mature years will be considered on their merits

Progression

  • On successful conclusion of level 5 Award students may progress to Level 6 Award
  • Students gain skills that enable them to go into Industry and to install, configure and administer computer networks. Students also gain skills to go into the Web Design industry as highly skilled professionals equipped with skills to use the latest technology on the Internet.

Progression: UCC

  • Students with appropriate FETAC qualifications can be admitted on a competitive basis to UCC for entry to the following degree programme:
  • CK401 BSc Computer Science
