    The NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety is a structured programme that provides the core knowledge required by today’s health and safety practitioner. All occupational health and safety practitioners need to have a common core of knowledge in order to practise effectively. This common core of knowledge must be transferable between the different occupational sectors in which they may work, ranging across all parts of industry, commerce and the public sector. The NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety provides the knowledge and understanding that underpins competent performance as an occupational health and safety practitioner.

    Course Programme (August 2011 Syllabus)

    The course consists of four Units as follows:

    • Unit IA International management of health and safety
    • Unit IB International management of hazardous agents in the workplace
    • Unit IC International workplace and work safety equipment
    • Unit ID Application of international health and safety theory and practice

    You will be provided with a detailed course timetable advising you which topics should be studied each week. There is some flexibility built into this timetable in terms of when and where you study, but it is designed to ensure you are fully prepared for the workshops and your NEBOSH assessment.

    Course Accreditation/Registration/Assessment

    Diploma students need to enrol with NEBOSH. Students have 5 years from date of enrolment with NEBOSH to successfully complete all units. Enrolment forms and instructions to enrol will be issued to all delegates.

    Diploma students need to register with a NEBOSH approved centre to sit their exams. (SQT is a NEBOSH Approved Centre 551).

    The course is assessed as follows:

    • Unit IA International management of health and safety
    • Assessed by a three hour examination
    • Unit IB International management of hazardous agents in the workplace
    • Assessed by a three hour examination
    • Unit IC International workplace and work safety equipment
    • Assessed by a three hour examination
    • Unit ID Application of international health and safety theory and practice
    • Assessed by one written assignment

    NEBOSH offer two examinations sessions each year in January and July. Unit ID assignment dates are March and September annually. Delegates must achieve the pass standard in both examination papers and in the written assignment to be awarded the International Diploma.
