Course Accreditation/Registration/Assessment
Certificate students need to register with a NEBOSH approved centre to sit their exam. (SQT is a NEBOSH Approved Centre 551).
The assessment process for delegates consists of an examination (1 papers; EC1) 2 hours. In addition there is the practical assessment of a workplace (EC2). Delegates must achieve the pass standard in both the examination paper and in the practical assessment to be awarded the NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management.
Please note that NEBOSH have a Reasonable Adjustments and Special Consideration Policy.
NEBOSH schedule examinations dates four times per year: March, June, September and December. Candidates are prepared for the next available examination date.
Unit EC2 is carried out in the delegate’s own workplace. The aim of the practical assessment is to test your ability to apply the knowledge and understanding gained from the study of elements of Unit EC1 in a practical environment. You must carry out an environmental review of a workplace and complete a report to management regarding the review with recommendations. This practical application must be completed and returned to the SQT course tutor by a date determined (normally within 10 working days of the written examination). The practical application is internally assessed by the SQT Tutor and externally moderated by NEBOSH.
The NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management is rated at level 6 on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). The Irish awarding bodies and qualifications authorities and the UK awarding and qualifications regulatory bodies undertook an exercise to facilitate the comparison of qualifications in the qualifications framework in the UK and Ireland. The document, Qualifications can cross boundaries - a rough guide to comparing qualifications in the UK and Ireland was published, and compares SCQF Level 6 to Level 5 on the Irish National Framework of Qualifications. In addition there is a recently launched European-wide website which supports this comparison of different national education systems.
