    The Music, Management & Sound course at Kinsale College aims to provide participants with hands-on experience, training, information and advice on all aspects of the music industry. To this end, each student specialises in practical musicianship, composition and songwriting, live performance, studio recording, studying music law (e.g. contracts and copyright), along with music marketing and promotion. Course participants also stage live shows throughout the year and these offer the ideal environment in which each student can put to use the knowledge s/he has gained while on the course.

    The Music Management and Sound course is also suitable for experienced musicians who intend to pursue a degree in popular music. This would include preparation for auditions/ entrance exams.

    The course places a particular emphasis on musical creativity, song-writing and composition. Much of the work is practical and developed in a workshop format designed to foster a supportive ensemble atmosphere for participants.

    • Successful candidates will be selected on the basis of aptitude/audition.

    How to apply/Application deadline:

    Applications for all our courses will be available on the website and in the college from 1st week in January 2015 for all courses commencing in September 2015. Interviews will be held for all courses later in the year generally in May/June. To apply, simply download an application form and forward to the College.

    Career Opportunities:

    Students who successfully complete QQI Level 5 could expect to find full time employment as performer, composer for film/tv/radio/advertising/video/videogames etc, technician, music therapist, management, festival co-ordinator, community musician, teacher, editor, music retail, etc.

    Further Study Opportunities:

    QQI Level 5 Music Certificate can be used by Post Leaving Certificate and mature students equally to access degree courses in music related courses; for example in UCC and CIT locally
