Course details
- This is a one year advanced course where students further enhance the skills developed at Multimedia Level 5 and acquire new skills.
- Over the course of the year, students develop interactive web sites that integrate sound, video, animation, graphics, 3D and scripting. Students write, shoot and produce a short film. Students create a soundscape and podcast. Students are also given the opportunity to collaborate on a group project that involves liaising with industry.
- As well as continuing with the range of software taught at Level 5, students are introduced to Audacity, Apple Soundtrack Pro, Blender (3D), Adobe Flash and Celtx. An equipment loan system is in place for students. This provides students with access to all department equipment outside of class times.
- All Multimedia Level 6 students are given the opportunity to become an Apple Certified Final Cut Pro user.

Progression
- CIT, IT Tralee and LIT: The Multimedia Department has a formal agreement with both of these colleges facilitating multimedia students entry directly to the second year of their respective degree courses.
- The progression link enables students who attain FETAC Level 6, and comply with specific conditions, gain entry into the second year of the BA Degree in Interactive Multimedia at The Institute of Technology Tralee or the second year of the BA Degree in Multimedia at the Cork Institute of Technology.
