    Course details

    The motor industry is a significant employer with a perse range of opportunities in service, sales, parts, emergency/recoveriesbody repair, fast fit, alarms, glass fitting, etc. Recent years have seen a steady growth in the industry, with record car sales and all the associated work which this brings. The recent introduction of compulsory testing has opened a new sphere of employment within the industry. The motor industry is constantly developing and changing with new technology and products which makes it an exciting place to work and learn.

    • Electronics
    • Mathematics
    • Web Authoring
    • Work Experience
    • Communications
    • Work Experience Placement

    Students are assisted to secure a placement in a motor garage or related environment. Friday is normally reserved for work experience. A diary, performance report and associated assignments must be completed.

    Four Post Ramp - Crypton Engine Analyser - Wheel Alignment - Gauges Gas and Electric Welding Equipment - Extensive range of Hand Tools - Compressor and Air Tools - Exhaust Gas Analyser - Headlamp Alignment Guages - Working Engines on Frames.

    Entry Requirements / How to Apply

    Apply now if you are a final year secondary student, an aspiring Apprentice Motor Vehicle Mechanic or just interested in the evolving world of Motor Technology. Applicants should have achieved the Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, or equivalent. Mature applicants with suitable industry experience are also welcome to apply. Admission to the course is limited and subject to interview. Suitability interviews are usually held every May each year.     Assessment and Certification

    Modules are assessed by workshop, practical projects, assignments and examinations. Your final certificate classification (Distinction, Merit, Pass) will be based on your work throughout the year of the course. Successful candidates will receive a FETAC Level 5 Award in Motor Technology.
