Course details

This is a full time course the purpose of which is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence required to independently and under supervision carry out diagnostic, maintenance and installation procedures on elec- tronic and mechanical components utilised within the motor technology sector and or to progress to further or higher education or training under the Higher Links Scheme. It aims to give students a broad knowledge of the work practices involved in car mechanics and car maintenance.

Course Modules:

Motor Vehicle Theory, Motor Vehicle Practice, Auto Electricity, Communications, Engi- neering Workshop Processes,

Electronics, Safety & Health at Work, Work Experience.

Leaving Certificate or equivalent & Interview Process

Mature Applicants:

The College considers applicants who wish to return to full-time education. Such ap- plicants may not be required to have the minimum entry requirements. The College will look for satisfactory evidence of the applicant's ability to pursue and benefit from the course. Mature applicants should apply directly to the College.

History
The school opened in 1983 as a co-educational school. It is located on a beautiful ttheylve-acre site with extensive playing fields and surrounded by mature trees.
Among the specialist rooms provided are an Engineering / Metalwork room, a Construction Studies / Materials Technology (Wood) room, a Technical Drawing / Technical raphics room, two Art rooms, two Science laboratories, a  Home Economics room / Kitchen & Cooking area, a Music room, and a theatre come assembly hall. they have three modern computer suites with high speed broadband access to the internet.
Learning Support is provided for students with a range of learning difficulties, subject to the restheirces provided by the Department of Education and Science. In line with current thinking, their school favtheirs main-streaming students with learning difficulties. This means that such students are integrated into regular classes and withdrawn for special help from learning support or restheirce teachers.
