Course details
To meet the needs of an expanding Early Years Care and Education (ECCE) sector Portobello Institute aims to provide a solid, integrated, unified approach to the delivery of ECCE training. FETAC Certificates are now obtained through a new Common Award System (CAS) and awarded by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI)
Our Early Years course is delivered in two stages and it aims to develop in our Learners the highest level of professional competence as practitioners, establishing in them a wide knowledge and a deep understanding of educational practices in conjunction with the principles set down by Síolta: the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Aistear: the Framework for Early Learning.
It is essential to be aware that the Learner will only achieve the Full Common Award by successfully completing the Montessori course in two stages.
Qualifications Gained
Stage 2:
- FETAC Minor Awards at Level 6 in:
- Child Development - 15 credits
- Early Childhood Curriculum - 15 credits
- Childhood social, Legal & Health Issues - 15 credits
- Personal & Professional Development - 15 credits
*Please note after completion of both stage one and two of the early years care and education course you will be awarded a Major award and will be qualified as a Montessori teacher (Ages of 3-6 years) and you can manage and own your own Montessori.
