Course details

Bulk forming and casting are used for producing metallic components for a wide range of engineering applications in various industries such as aerospace, electronic, automotive and biomedical. This course will provide participants with a better understanding of current, advanced and novel forming as well as casting methods. It will also offer opportunities for hands-on experience with these technologies. The course also covers forming technologies in manufacturing bulk metal components including cold forging and cold rotary forming of light metal and steels, finite element simulation technology, metallurgy for bulk metal forming as well as casting and liquid forging technologies on aluminium alloys. Participants will gain insights into achieving high accuracy and quality in the formed components, material performance, process characteristics and evaluation of manufacturing cost. The course will include hands-on Module 4: Advanced Metal Forming and Casting Technologies experiments, operation and studies using the equipment available in SIMTech.
