Course details

  • Understand the various elements of weather, e.g. water vapor, temperature, pressure, hygroscopic nuclei etc;
  •  Know how to use meteorological instruments onboard the ship e.g. barometer, barograph, hygrometer, anemometer etc;
  •  Understand the formation of various types of clouds, precipitation
  •  Understand the general pressure and wind system including trade wind and monsoon;
  •  Understand of ocean currents and formation of depression as well as fog;
  •  Understand warm front, cold front and the weather associated tothem; \
  • Learn how to make a weather observation report.
