Course details
The Mechatronics & Aerospace Programme is a common entry point to 2 diploma courses:
- Diploma in Mechatronics (T06)
- Diploma in Aerospace Engineering (T51)
It allows you to keep your options open and you can enrol in either Mechatronics or Aerospace Engineering.
These two diploma courses have a number of areas in common and are related to mechanical engineering. Hence, you will learn to design and fabricate mechanical parts, structures and mechanisms in both courses. You will also learn programming and electronics, which are essential for the control of mechanisms.
In the Mechatronics course, you can choose to take one of these 3 cluster electives:
- Robotics
- Process Control & Automation
- Aerospace Systems.
In the Aerospace Engineering course, you will dwell more on equipment and systems used in an aircraft. You will also learn to appreciate the airframe, propulsion systems, hydraulic systems, and other aircraft mechanisms.
There will always be a demand for trained personnel to provide engineering, logistics and maintenance support to companies that use machineries. Hence with either diploma, you will be able to pursue careers in industries such as: aerospace, shipping, land transport, oil & gas, construction and manufacturing.
Do note that you will take the same three years to complete your course, and upon graduation, you will receive the same diploma as your peers who had enrolled for a particular course right from the start.
