Course details
This masterclass offers participants the information to understand and analyse the foundational business model of “Hollywood” -- the home for American motion picture and television industries, and the movie capital of the world.
Participants will learn the language and operations of these businesses: from representation, trade publications, publicity, how the project development process works, the roles of unions and guilds, contracts, the roles of different job titles, how the money flows, and, perhaps most importantly, how to find their place in the industry.
LEARNING OUTCOME
- Identify your team (agent, manager, lawyer) and understand their roles
- Demonstrate an understanding of the how to get your project packaged and financed outside the studios
- Demonstrate an understanding of the language and terms commonly used
- Demonstrate knowledge of the various jobs within the film, TV and media businesses
- Understand the material points in writer, producer, director contracts
- Understand the material points in option/purchase agreements
- Demonstrate an understanding of the nature of power in Hollywood and how the business is changing
