Course details

This course is designed to show you how to solve a quadratic when you do not have a constant. We do this by determining the common factors of our two terms that we can factor out. The course will only take you a couple of hours to complete but is designed to be used over a couple of days for reinforcement of skills. The course follows a simple progress of three different sections.

  • Introduction
  • Examples
  • Conclusion

For the introduction you will start with how factor out a GCF from an expression as well as essential questions that will allow you to think about how to solve a quadratic and why we do it by factoring out the GCF

In the examples section you will be able to work through eight different examples that will teach you how to solve a quadratic by factoring out a GCF and then using the zero product property. If you get stuck you can examine the hint in the description section or watch the step by step tutorial that is associated with every video.

To complete the course you we will summarize how to solve by factoring the GCF as well as common mistakes that plaque many students while working through these problems. To challenge your skills a set of challenge problems have been provided for you to test your skills.
